The European Commission presented draft of new legislation for the telecoms market. In accordance with the approved package, incoming call charges while travelling in the EU would be banned from 1 July 2014. In the case of roaming for outgoing calls, by mid-2016 companies would have the choice to either:

1) offer phone plans that apply everywhere in the European Union („roam like at home”), the price of which will be driven by domestic competition,

2) allow their customers to “decouple”, that is: opt for a separate roaming provider who offers cheaper rates (without having to buy a new SIM card).

Passenger was traveling from the Czech Republic to Poland and his luggage was lost. He decided to buy the most necessary things (shirt, sweater, underwear and toiletries) and kept receipts. Then asked carrier to give him his money back.

The Network of European Consumer Centres across the EU handled more than 80,000 enquiries from citizens across the EU in 2013.  This represents an increase of 11% compared to 2012.

Consumer was traveling German airlines to the Dominican Republic. After arrival to the island, it turned out that his luggage was lost. After a few days of vacation suitcase was delivered to him, but unfortunately in very bad condition.

27 czerwca (najbliższy piątek) po raz kolejny odbędzie się akcja ECK „Dzień Podróżującego Konsumenta”. Wspólnie z Urzędem Transportu Kolejowego na Dworcu Centralnym w Warszawie oraz na Lotnisku Warszawa Modlin zostaną zorganizowane stoiska o charakterze edukacyjnym.

A passenger of German airline was traveling from Stuttgart through Berlin to Krakow. The first part of the trip was delayed and she did not manage to catch the flight from Berlin to Krakow. The carrier acknowledged its responsibility for the delay and guaranteed her accommodation in a hotel. As it turned out the hotel was far away from the airport and the consumer had to take a taxi. Additionally incurred costs related to the purchase of food. So after returning to Poland she decided to present receipts for food and taxi to the carrier and requested a refund. Unfortunately, the airline tried to avoid its responsibility.

A Polish consumer who had lived for many years in the UK, decided to visit Poland, so purchased plane tickets for all family members from the Irish carrier. Unfortunately, the implementation of this plan was disturbed by illness and death of her husband. Therefore, the Pole asked the airline for a refund. But the complaint has not been resolved in favor of the consumer.

Belgijska konsumentka podróżowała polskimi liniami lotniczymi z Mińska przez Warszawę do Brukseli. Jej bagaż został zagubiony. Pasażerka zgromadziła liczną dokumentację wykazująca jej szkodę – paragony za ubrania, które znajdowały się w walizce. Mimo to linie lotnicze stanowczo odmówiły jej wypłaty rekompensaty.

Europejskie Centrum Konsumenckie oraz Ośrodek Debaty Międzynarodowej MSZ mają przyjemność zaprosić na spotkanie z cyklu „Mini debaty konsumenckie w ODM”, które odbędzie się 26 maja br. (wtorek), o godz. 10.00. Zgodnie z przyjętą formułą debata ma przybrać postać jak najmniej sformalizowaną. Organizatorzy pragną stworzyć przestrzeń do swobodnej dyskusji. Tematem spotkania będzie: „Przez telefon, internet, na pokazie – senior na rynku konsumenckim w świetle nowych przepisów prawnych”.

Austriacki konsument zakupił online w polskim sklepie grę komputerową, którą można uruchomić jedynie za pomocą specjalnego klucza. Taki klucz został mu przesłany. Jednakże po kilku dniach okazało się, że w grę nie może już grać.

Polski konsument zakupił w internecie rzeźbę oferowaną przez holenderskiego sprzedawcę jako dzieło niderlandzkiego artysty z XVIII wieku. Zapłacił za nią 9 tysięcy euro, rzeźba była prezentem ślubnym dla syna. Konsument interesował się sztuką, więc po otrzymaniu przesyłki, zauważył, że rzeźba ma cechy świadczące o tym, że ktoś ją podrobił.
