Settling disputes and disagreements through courts is often costly and time-consuming. Cross-border cases are particularly complex due to different national laws and practical matters like costs or language. The European Union Mediation Directive – which was adopted on 21 May 2008 (IP/08/628) and is in force since 21 May 2011– applies when two parties who are involved in a cross-border dispute voluntarily agree to settle their dispute using an impartial mediator.

On October 28th 2011, The European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net) launches the report “Air Passengers Rights Report 2011 – in the aftermath of the Volcanic Ash Crisis”. Many Consumers still experience problems when shopping online; this is shown in a new report released by The European Consumer Centre Network (ECC-Net). For the last two years, more than half of the cases received by the ECC-Net, 31 000 complaints, concerned online purchases.

Europejskie Centrum Konsumenckie  zostało partnerem akcji Dzień Bezpiecznego Internetu, który corocznie organizuje Safer Internet. ECK nie pierwszy raz bierze udział w tym przedsięwzięciu .

Sieć Programów Safer Internet, współfinansowana przez Komisję Europejską działa w trzydziestu krajach Europy. Zajmuje się ona tworzeniem przyjaznego środowiska dla użytkowników Internetu oraz  wspiera pomocą dzieci/rodziców/nauczycieli w dziedzinie bezpieczeństwa w sieci. Safer Internet tworzą przedstawiciele Naukowej i Akademickiej Sieci Komputerowej (NASK) oraz Fundacji Dzieci Niczyje (FDN).  W tym roku odbędą się już dziewiąte obchody Dnia Bezpiecznego Internetu. Tegoroczna akcja poświęcona jest tematyce praw i obowiązków użytkownika sieci internetowej. Jej hasłem przewodnim jest „Surfuję. Respektuję”.

From 1 July 2013, ECC Croatia became a new member of the ECC-Net. The position of Director covered Danijela Krstic Marković. Ministry of Economics is the host organization.

A proper implementation, good entrepreneurs’ knowledge and the opening for system of amicable settlement of disputes are key for the development of e-commerce in Poland – said experts gathered at the conference E-commerce in Poland and the EU after the implementation of the provisions of the new directive on consumer rights and regulations of ADR and ODR organized by the European Consumer Centre and the Trusted Shops Poland on 4th October 2013.
