With the entry of Croatia into the EU Croatian Deputy Prime Minister for the Interior, Foreign and European Affairs – Neven Mimica became 28 European Commissioner. According to EU law, each Member State is entitled to have one commissioner in the European Commission. A new member of the EC is to take care of consumer protection, at the same time part of his competence will lose Maltese Commissioner – Tonio Borg, who previously oversaw the Directorate General for Health and Consumers.

Przyjęty przez KE, Europejski program na rzecz konsumentów, który zastąpił Strategie Polityki Konsumenckiej na lata 2007-2013 wymienia najważniejsze środki, których podjęcie jest niezbędne, aby poprawić pozycję konsumentów na rynku i zwiększyć ich zaufanie.

Jednym z założeń programu jest wzmocnienie Sieci Europejskich Centrów Konsumenckich, tak by mogły one lepiej informować konsumentów o prawach przysługujących im w przypadku zakupów transgranicznych oraz pomagać im w rozwiązywaniu transgranicznych sporów.

ECC Poland would like to draw attention to the actions of Polish entrepreneur 4YOU AIRLINES, which from August 12 to September 3, 2014 has been selling tickets for flights, among others, to Paris, Barcelona, Rome and Brussels from Polish airports in Lodz and Rzeszow. Flights are scheduled to begin from November 3, 2014.

Yet it should be noted the Civil Aviation Authority stated, that the entrepreneur has not received the status of air carrier. However the relevant licensing procedure, has been already continued for some time,  still the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (the OCCP) has established that it is not possible to complete the authorization process before 3 November 2014.

Europejskie Centrum Konsumenckie zaprasza na wykład prowadzony przez ECK w Europe Direct Warszawa pt.: „Czy wybierając tanie linie lotnicze godzę się na ograniczenie moich praw jako pasażera?” Spotkanie odbędzie się 12 marca (czwartek) o godz. 16.00.

Konsumentka zamieszkała na terenie Belgii podróżowała polskimi liniami lotniczymi z Brukseli do Warszawy. Jej bagaż został opóźniony o ponad 24 godziny. Pasażerka musiała zakupić niezbędną odzież i kosmetyki. Poniosła w związku z tym liczne wydatki w kwocie blisko 1000 złotych.

A consumer was supposed to return from her holidays in Cuba with French airlines to Warsaw through Paris. A few days before the departure she received information that her flight was cancelled and the next one will take place in three days. The consumer couldn’t afford to lengthen her stay and found an alternative connection. The carrier agreed to change her tickets for a flight a day earlier.

Realizując przyjętą strategię rynku cyfrowego, Komisja Europejska przedstawiła dwa wnioski, które mają posłużyć lepszej ochronie konsumentów dokonujących zakupów w internecie w całej UE oraz pomóc przedsiębiorstwom w rozszerzaniu swojej oferty w internecie.
