E-wallet hacked

The account of a Polish consumer on a popular online accommodation service was hacked. The amount she had in her “wallet” was spent on a flight to Asia in an unauthorized manner. The phone numbers provided when booking did not belong to her.

The consumer fought unsuccessfully with the entrepreneur for a refund for many months. She only received information that the case had been forwarded to the cybersecurity department. Later, the company stopped responding to her emails.

The case was forwarded by ECC Poland to ECC Netherlands. After the ECC Netherlands contacted the entrepreneur, the consumer received a full refund.
